MyBIM welcomes the implementation of the Sahabat Istimewa IWK initiative as a continuous effort to strengthen the development and participation of the Persons with Disabilities (OKU) community in Malaysia through a more inclusive and sustainable approach.

As an organisation that advocates for communication access, education, and the empowerment of the Deaf community, MyBIM views initiatives such as this as an important platform for encouraging the active participation of persons with disabilities in social, educational, and economic spheres. Programmes that emphasise skills development, self-confidence, and exposure to real working environments help participants build independence and contribute meaningfully to society.

Through its involvement in this initiative, MyBIM highlights the importance of providing effective communication support, particularly for the Deaf community, to ensure that all participants are able to fully engage in every activity conducted. Access to clear information, training, and inclusive interaction forms the foundation of a truly accessible and supportive environment.

In addition, programmes such as Sahabat Istimewa IWK create valuable opportunities for strategic collaboration among the corporate sector, non-governmental organisations, educational institutions, and local communities. Such multi-sector partnerships are essential in ensuring that initiatives deliver not only short-term benefits, but also long-term positive impact for participants and society.

MyBIM believes that the development of the OKU community should not be limited to welfare-based support alone, but should instead focus on capacity building, learning opportunities, and the strengthening of life skills. This approach helps enhance self-confidence, improve employability, and expand social and professional networks among participants.

In line with this vision, MyBIM remains committed to playing an active role in supporting programmes that promote inclusivity, equal opportunities, and equitable access to education and training. We will continue to collaborate with strategic partners to expand outreach, improve the quality of support services, and ensure that the needs of the Deaf community and other persons with disabilities are appropriately addressed.

Looking ahead, MyBIM hopes that more organisations will adopt similar approaches by integrating inclusivity into their policies and programme implementation. Collective efforts of this nature are essential in building an ecosystem that supports the holistic and sustainable development of persons with disabilities.

MyBIM is confident that through collaboration, commitment, and careful planning, initiatives such as Sahabat Istimewa IWK can serve as catalysts for positive change in empowering the OKU community in Malaysia.
