MyBIM has been conducting a series of BIM workshops designed to provide university students with a deeper understanding of Malaysian Sign Language (BIM), Deaf culture, and effective communication with the Deaf community. Unlike one-time awareness sessions, this program takes place over several months, offering continuous learning and engagement with the same group of students.

Each workshop is tailored to different purposes, ensuring that the content is relevant and meaningful to participants. Topics covered include, but are not limited to, basic BIM communication, Deaf identity, cultural norms, accessibility, and inclusive interaction strategies. In addition to language instruction, the workshops feature interactive activities, real-life simulations, discussions, and hands-on experiences, allowing students to gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

By engaging with Deaf facilitators, students develop a better appreciation of the Deaf experience and learn how to create more inclusive environments in their personal and professional lives. The long-term structure of the program allows participants to build confidence in using BIM, strengthen their cultural awareness, and apply their learning in meaningful ways.

This initiative continues to highlight the importance of language accessibility and social inclusion, encouraging students to become more aware of the barriers faced by the Deaf community and the role they can play in breaking them. Through sustained engagement, the workshops not only equip participants with new skills but also foster a shift in mindset towards greater inclusivity and respect for linguistic diversity.
