It’s incredible to think that we have journeyed over a decade in our mission to have BIM recognised in the right way, reaching across communities and striving to fulfil the purpose of the MyBIM Foundation. Our commitment has been unwavering, and our passion boundless.
As we pause to reflect, let’s celebrate how far we’ve come. We’ve navigated through different boards over four cycles, keeping the organisation alive and thriving solely on the dedication of volunteers. Despite the absence of annual government funding for our cause, we have persevered. Every bit of funding has been project-based, supported by generous funders who believe in our vision.
Throughout this journey, we’ve engaged with the Deaf community through various meaningful projects centred around BIM and Deaf culture. From book publications to cultural initiatives, we have provided what we could, pushing forward with limited budgets, time, and manpower. Every step has been taken out of love and commitment, with no personal gain or pay—funded entirely from our own pockets and driven by our shared dream.
Here’s a glimpse of what we’ve accomplished together in these first ten years:
- Consultations: Providing expert advice and insights
- Engagements on Deaf and OKU Accessibility: Advocating for inclusive and accessible environments
- Funded Projects: Realising initiatives that bring change
- Research: Strengthening our knowledge base to drive informed action
- Walk BIM Talks: Bringing BIM into action and inspiring others to follow
- Awareness Programmes with Universities: Engaging the next generation
- Training Courses with Deaf Organisations: Empowering and building capacities
Every achievement is a testament to our resilience and dedication. Together, we have paved the way for BIM to stand as a symbol of pride and identity. As we look ahead, let’s keep walking this journey with hope, strength, and the shared vision of a world where BIM is universally embraced and celebrated.
